Shaking it up in red!

Years ago, when my in-laws were moving and held a big garage sale, my mother-in-law said for us to take whatever we wanted, in addition to things she wanted us and the kids to have. Which was awfully sweet of her!

For some reason, my hubby focused on these red salt and pepper shakers. I thought they were awful. My daughter thought they were cool. My son had no opinion one way or the other. Hubby and daughter won out, and home they came.

I resisted using them for the longest time, until one day Hubs says "Remember those red salt and pepper shakers? Where are they anyway?" OK, well I couldn't lie and say they were lost, so out they came. And he used them to the exclusion of all others. And loved them.

And you know what? Now I use them to the exclusion of all others.
Go figure.

But they remind me of my in-laws every time, and that is nice.

I'm linking these red salt and pepper shakers to Rednesday hosted by It's a Very Cherry World. Grab your something red and link up too! And read about other reds while you're there!

  1. I think they are cool. I just prefer the old fashion ones, where you have big holes to shake it out. I do not like the ones you have to turn.

  2. I wanted to register for some red salt and pepper shakers when we got married, but my husband complained about the color so much I skipped them. They looked a lot like yours!

  3. New follower. Found you on my hopping around!

  4. My kitchen is decorated with I love them!
And how sweet that they remind you of your in-laws :)

  5. It's funny how some things that was think we don't like grow on us!

  6. THese are great! I love the color and the vintage feel they have. Glad you still have them!!

  7. Isn't it strange how our tastes change over the yeares?

Don’t let that scarlet go to your head!
Be very glad you haven’t been bled!
Give thanks for the colors dear to your heart:
Carmine and cherry and wine— a good start!

  8. It makes sense to use what makes you happy. A happy man about the house is a good thing! And the extra benefit of reminding you/him of his parents makes them special.

  9. Love them! Yup- just spray painted 2 shelves Red yesterday! I like red best mixed with other colors, although there is a lot of red happening in my kitchen. ♥

  10. Hi, I am a red lover so I would have nabbed those S & P shakers without hesitation. Fun that you have learned to enjoy them. Hubby did good on these! Thanks for visiting me. Now following you.

  11. Those are nice! I am glad that you like them now.
    Happy rednesday!

  12. I like them a lot. Love red, and they're different than what is usually seen.
